RABBANA DUA 35: Surah Ankaboot:(29:30)

Translation:

He said: My Lord! help me against the mischievous people. ( Mufsideen:

(those who commit great crimes and sins, mischief makers)

WHAT IS FASAD/CORRUPTION

Fasad comes from root word ف س د. It means corruption.

Corruption includes sins, rebellion, tyranny, oppression, crimes, injustice of any kind…. taking people’s rights away and not fulfilling

ones duties towards mankind.

Corruption of a person’s heart doesn’t happen overnight. There are steps taken towards it over a long period,

It is a journey on the incorrect path, so it starts always with the individual following his or her desires.

There is an authentic hadith detailing all other paths which lead to corruption.

Ibn Mas’ud may Allah be pleased with him reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, drew a line with his hand and he said,

This is the straight path of Allah.” Then the Prophet drew lines to the

right and left and he said, “These are other paths and there are no other paths but that a devil is upon it calling to its way.” Then the Prophet recited the verse, “Verily, this is the straight path, so follow it and do not follow other paths.” (6:153)

Corruption always starts therefore at the individual level. The level of the Nafs which literally means ‘self’.

Sin is a journey just like the journey of righteousness, its a path which leads to extreme levels of evil ,diseases of the heart and hardening of the heart.

The other other path is to purification of the heart and Allah’s pleasure.

Our hearts with repeated sins become diseased and begin to harden. It starts with diseases of the spiritual heart, like greed, anger, lies, backbiting, arrogance, jealousy and these eventually lead to leaving Allah’s path.

A clear perspective is that  every disobedient soul has strayed like the shaitan and has started thinking he is better than others and has fallen into arrogance and self-deception.

THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE OUR CORRUPTION WILL SPREAD TO OTHERS LIKE A CONTAGIOUS DIESASE.

Have you ever thought that your behaviours could be contagious leading others to sin?

When we sin, we lose haya which means shyness before Allah and we forget Allah (swt). He is ever watchful over us and hears and sees everything.

This heedlessness should not be taken lightly and becomes a threat to our faith. That is why we need Allah’s protection and actively seek his help.

Abdullah ibn Umar (ra) narrated that the Prophet (saw) said: “Indeed haya (modesty) and iman are like companions, when one of them is lifted, the other leaves as well.” (Baihaqi).

Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said in one hadith, “When there is no haya left, then do as you please.”

Allah says in Surah Al-Araf do not spread corruption once the earth has been set right

meaning reformed.

Translation:

And do not make mischief in the earth after its reformation, and call on Him fearing and hoping; surely the mercy of Allah is nigh to those who do good to others (Al-Araf:56)

Allah’s teachings are the best teachings and we must never lose sight of our reality of life. We are on this earth for a short time, and we will eventually return to Him (swt). We will stand with all our sins in front of Allah (swt) the King of all Kings, the Lord of the worlds.

HOW TO HOLD OURSELVES ACCOUNTABLE AND IMPROVE:

💎On an individual level check your heart always this is very important. if you keep working on yourself andrecognise your weaknesses and strive to correct them you will not become the cause for other people’s corruption.

💎You constantly aim to spread good and khair…. Do good deeds, as the good will come back to you for sure.

💎You do Dhikr of Allah….establish prayer remember Allah (swt) inside and outside of prayers. Remember Him (swt) 24/7…all day be aware of His blessings.

💎You fear Allah …..seek His forgiveness constantly….do TAWBAH (repentance)…..humble yourself in front of Al-Azeem. The Most High.

💎You fear corruption of your soul…..keep up your prayers so you don’t go so far away that you find it difficult to reform and come back to Allah (swt):

For example someone who falls into taking drugs may find his journey back to be a long and arduous one.

💎Be aware constantly of your TWO ENEMIES

1) NAFS……………self
2) SHAITAN………..Devil

Know your enemies and their plots and safeguard yourself through prayers. The enemies are only strong when

you are weak in faith.

💎You don’t want to become a Shaitan in a human body…do you? So don’t walk his path. Walk on the path of the righteous the God fearing.

💎 Remember sin darkens the heart, tightens it and restricts it …takes it downwards slowly into darkness of the soul towards evil….this is the way of the devil. The deception and lies are decorated as truth.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, when the believer commits a sin a black spot appears upon his heart. If he repents and abandons the sin and  seeks forgiveness, then his heart will be polished. If he increases in sin, then the blackness is increased.

That is the covering which Allah has mentioned in His Book: No, but on their hearts is a covering  because of what they have earned.” (83:14)

💎Our hearts could only be cleared with worship and Tawbah, as they polish the heart. The light of guidance sent by Allah (swt) through His messenger illuminates the heart again.

💎 Worship takes your heart upwards spiritually under Allah’s protection….and opens it to receive guidance.

Worship makes the heart fertile, and a fertile land not only absorbs but brings out the best of its fruits and vegetations to benefit others.

May Allah keep our hearts guided and make us a source of good for others. Ameen
